Treatments for a sore throat
Does tea help a sore throat?
Tea, especially black tea, has a high antioxidant and anti-inflammation capacity. It can ease throat soreness by fighting bacteria to reduce inflammation, improve the immune system, and relieve pain.
Does honey help a sore throat?
Since ancient times, honey has been known for its health and therapeutic abilities. It is good for killing bacteria, improving antioxidants, reducing inflammation, and healing wounds. It smooths and brings relief to a sore throat.
Does salt help a sore throat?
Using salty water to rinse the mouth and throat is one of the most traditional ways to treat a sore throat (just don’t swallow the water as it will be extremely salty!). It can kill bacteria, ease pain, and loosen mucus. Sea salt contains various essential minerals like zinc, iron magnesium, potassium, and iodine. It can also help the body to boost the immune system to fight against inflammation and reduce pain.
Does lemon (vitamin C) help a sore throat?
Consuming lots of vitamin C can help the body to absorb iron, boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, and enhance wound healing. Out of all fruits, lemon is high in vitamin C and can provide pain relief.

How to make a cup of honey lemon whole-leaf black tea in less than 5 mins
Ingredients
- Half lemon
- Honey
- The80sTea Wuyi Mountain Black Tea (Lapsang Souchong)
Steps
- Squeeze the lemon juice into your cup/mug
- Add a certain amount of honey depending on your taste. If you like it sweeter, use more honey.
- Prepare your warm black tea by pre-brewing the tea and pouring it into the cup/mug.
- Mix it with the lemon juice and honey to serve.
Key Points
- We highly recommend using whole-leaf black tea. The younger tea leaves have a premium quality to retain the beneficial effect of tea and will work BETTER than any type of powdered tea or tea bag.
- Black tea can be re-brewed at least 3-4 times during the day without adding any extra tea leaves. Its aroma and flavour will remain if using high-temperature hot water (95℃ and above).
- For the best results, use high-temperature hot water for brewing tea, and serve it warm. Please do not leave the lemon tea until it turns cold, otherwise, the aroma and flavour of the tea, as well as its beneficial effects cannot take effect.
Highlights
Honey Lemon black tea can be used all year, not only to treat a sore throat but also to improve antioxidant levels, reduce inflammation in the body, and thus improve your immune system.
